Neill and Ian Briggs founded Briggs Automotive Company, BAC, in Liverpool in March 2009 with the aim of building a road car that felt as close as possible to a single-seat racing car.
The result, the BAC Mono, was launched in 2011 and made its public debut at the Retro Classics show in Stuttgart. A single-seat, open-top, road-legal car with a rear mid-mounted engine and sequential gearbox, it combines racing-car layout and lightness with road registration.
The Mono R, launched at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on 4 July 2019, was lighter and more powerful, and was the first production car in the world to use graphene-enhanced carbon fibre in every body panel. BAC remains a small company, exporting its cars to dozens of countries.
