Map of Manufacturing Sites for UK Car Marques

Britain once built cars in far more places than Coventry, Birmingham, Oxford and Luton. This map plots 132 British marques across 170 towns, from volume producers to small sports-car workshops and kit-car makers. Many marques appear more than once because they moved factories or built in several places. Each pin links to the marque’s entry in our UK car manufacturers guide, which covers when it was founded, when it closed and what it is best remembered for.

There are three ways to narrow the map. Filter by category to show Mainstream & Utility, Luxury / Prestige, Sports & Specialist or Kit Car makers. Switch between active and discontinued marques to compare the firms still building cars with those that have gone. Or search for a marque or town by name to jump straight to it.

Orange numbers show how many marques were built in a town; dark circles group nearby towns, so zoom in to open them. Click a pin for the details.
